It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thilagawathy Sothilingam, a beloved former teacher at Chavakachcheri Hindu College, Jaffna Hindu Ladies College, and Ramanathan Hindu Ladies College, Bambalapitiya. Born and raised in Nunavil West, Jaffna, Thilagavathi left us on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Thilagawathy was the cherished youngest daughter of the late Nagalingam and Ponnamma and the adored daughter-in-law of the late Arumugam and Chinnamma. She was the devoted wife of the late Sothilingam, who served as the Principal of Columbuthurai Hindu Maha Vidyalayam and Vice Principal of Ratmalana Hindu College.

She was a loving mother to Manivannan - Dushi (UK), Muhunthan (Australia), Mathumathy (Australia) Kokulapalan - Gobi (UK) Vaithehi -Chooty (Sri Lanka). She was also a beloved mother-in-law to Suganniya(UK), Mugunthan (Australia), and Thileepan (Sri Lanka). Additionally, she was the dear sister of the late Rajapupathy, Punithavathy, Kamalathevi, Arunasalam and Seethathevy, Dr. Ramachandran.

Thilagawathy was an affectionate and an adorable grandmother to Manujan, Arjhan, Varsana, Abishek, Lasani, Arun Kirish, and Anuhasini. Her legacy of love, dedication to education, and kindness will forever be remembered by her family, friends, students and all those whose lives she touched.
